Environment Protection at IWK

We are committed to protecting our environment and to saving our natural resources.

Human activities always result in changes of the natural environment. Over long periods of time nature has been able to compensate for the effects of human activities. However, the precarious balance between human activities, nature and technical progress has lately been disturbed by the sheer growth of the industrial society. Humans are underestimating the negative effects of technical processes on the environment.

We live on this planet with limited resources only. Sustainable use of raw materials and the protection of our environment are most important to guarantee our future.

Technical progress has not only resulted in environmental problems but has also given us the chance and provided the opportunity for environment friendly product development and product manufacture.

The integral basis for comprehensive and sustainable success: to minimize the use of our resources and the ecological damage over the entire life of the product – starting with the product engineering, through its manufacture, the length of its use and finally to its environment friendly recycling.

Based on these topics, IWK´s environmental policy is summarized in the following seven principles:

1. We are continuously striving to implement environmental guidelines by minimizing the environmental footprint in keeping the use of energy and resources at bay.
2. Environmental impacts are kept at a minimum by our production, our facilities and our products.
3. We are committed to continuously monitor the use of raw materials and energy during the product engineering and manufacturing phases for reduction of waste and the recycling of by-products into the production process. Pollutants are kept to a minimum by either selecting a suitable production process or the conversion of an existing one.
4. State of the art techniques are used for the treatment of industrial water and exhaust air, the cleanup of garbage and the reduction of noise emissions. Environmental emissions are monitored and analyzed according to the latest technical standards.
5. Environmental stewardship is the concern of all our employees. Managerial leadership is constantly improving and extending the sense of environmental responsibility on all company levels. We intend to raise the awareness and the technical knowledge of environmental issues of all our employees through appropriate information, instructions and seminars on a regular basis.
6. IWK customers and forwarding agents are instructed about the properties of our products and their safe and environmentally friendly transport, handling and recycling. Our products should be used without negative effects on the environmental footprint.
7. We are co-operating with the respective environment authorities on a mutually trustworthy basis.
